This Week’s Look Behind the Curtain:
Our first community to make Aliyah has arrived in Afula!
Under the direction of Rabbi Nesanel Cadle, the first twenty families, coming from several U.S. cities, are now HOME in their own community known as KCE, Kehillat Chazon Elimelech. Ten more families who were already living in Eretz Yisrael have relocated to Afula to join with Rabbi Cadle’s community. And more families are on their way, b'ezras Hashem.
What is a community without a school?
Both the boys’ and girls’ schools opened this week, under the dedicated leadership of Rabbi and Rebbetzin Cadle who are both highly-experienced, gifted educators and their bi-lingual staff carefully cultivated for their warmth, expertise, and desire to pave the way for this extraordinary group initiative.
Just as exciting is that the discussion about opening a JCC- type building for community activities has begun with Afula Mayor Avi Alkabetz.
In the words of one colleague in the Aliyah housing industry, “Our projection is that within five years, American Olim will consider Afula to be just as credible a choice for where to live as Ramat Beit Shemesh.”
OHA is currently working closely with its next community, being led by a prominent Rabbi whose dream to relocate his existing community is beginning to take shape.
In our next meeting with him and his lay leader this coming week, we will be discussing his considerations for housing. This is a critical process for understanding how best to guide his group. Asking questions such as "Do you know yet in which region you want to settle? Do you need to be near public transportation or will you have your own cars?" is all part of the shared excitement here at OHA.
